製造メーカーの据付現場で通訳を担当した2か月間、私が使った英語は、学校で習う整った英語とは大きく異なるものでした。 現場では、長い説明よりも 短く・具体的・即時に伝える英語 が求められます。 ここでは、実際に私が現場で使った英語を「場面別」にまとめました。 すべて一次情報であり、製造現場で働く人にとって実務的に役立つ内容です。
据付作業で使った英語
位置ずれの指摘
据付作業では、位置ずれの指摘が最も多い場面でした。
“The alignment is off by about 10 millimeters. We need to redo the marking.”
“It’s slightly shifted to the left. Could you adjust it?”
位置ずれは現場の進行に直結するため、短く明確に伝える必要があります。
レベル調整（高さ合わせ）
高さが合わない場面も頻繁に発生します。
“Please adjust the level by 3 millimeters. The current height doesn’t meet the requirement.”
“The level is uneven. Could you recheck the reference point?”
製造メーカーの現場では、数ミリ単位の調整が求められるため、具体的な数値を英語で伝える力が必要でした。
墨打ち（位置決め）の確認
墨打ちがずれていると、後工程すべてに影響します。
“Could you recheck the marking? It seems slightly off from the reference line.”
“The marking doesn’t match the layout. We need to correct it.”
墨打ちの確認は、据付の基準となる重要な作業です。
固定具の締め付け確認
固定が甘いと安全面の問題が発生します。
“Is the fixture tightened properly? We need to ensure stability before moving on.”
“Please secure the bolts again. They seem a bit loose.”
安全確認の英語は、現場で最も重要なカテゴリの一つです。
出荷・搬入で使った英語
貨物の破損報告
搬入時の破損は頻繁に発生し、即時報告が必要です。
“We found damage on the shipment. Could you check the handling record?”
“There’s a dent on the side. We need to inspect the internal condition.”
破損の程度を正確に伝えることが求められます。
搬入スケジュールの調整
搬入の遅れは据付工程に直結します。
“We need to confirm the arrival time. Is there any change in the schedule?”
“The delivery is delayed. We need to adjust the plan accordingly.”
スケジュール調整は、現場通訳の中でも特に重要な業務でした。
梱包状態の確認
梱包の状態が悪いと破損につながります。
“Could you verify the packaging condition? It looks slightly deformed.”
“The pallet seems unstable. Could you reinforce it?”
梱包状態の確認は、搬入トラブルを防ぐための重要なポイントです。
トラブル対応で使った英語
スケジュール遅延の共有
遅延は現場全体に影響します。
“We’re behind schedule. We need to revise the plan.”
“The current progress is slower than expected. We need additional manpower.”
短く・正確に伝えることが求められます。
前倒し対応の依頼
遅れを取り戻すために前倒しが必要な場面も多くありました。
“Can we pull forward the next process? We need to recover the delay.”
“Is it possible to start the next step earlier?”
現場の流れを止めないための重要な英語です。
作業者の配置変更
人員不足は現場の進行に直結します。
“We need additional manpower for this process. Can you arrange two more workers?”
“We don’t have enough staff here. Could you allocate someone?”
人員調整は、通訳として頻繁に対応した内容でした。
安全確認の依頼
安全に関する英語は、現場で最も重要です。
“Please double-check the safety clearance before proceeding.”
“Make sure the area is clear. We’re about to move the equipment.”
安全確認は、どの製造現場でも必須のコミュニケーションです。

製造メーカーの据付現場で使う英語は、教科書的な正しさよりも 短く・具体的・即時に伝える力 が求められました。 位置ずれ、レベル調整、破損報告、スケジュール調整など、現場で使う英語は泥臭く、実務に直結しています。 この経験は、机上の英語学習では得られない貴重な学びとなり、実務英語の重要性を強く実感しました。
